CARTHAGE, Mo. — The Civil War battle that was called “the first serious conflict between United States troops and the rebels” will be reenacted Saturday and Sunday, June 15-16.
With years of planning for the thousands who flock to the annual Maple Leaf Parade or attend Marian Days, the Carthage Police Department is used to dealing with crowds.
Visitors will be able to watch Civil War re-enactors skirmish through downtown Carthage on Saturday, May 14, commemorating the battle that took place there July 5, 1861.
