LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - No one was surprised on Sunday afternoon when it was announced that McNeese would be heading to the Baton Rouge Regional as they have three of their six tournament appearances.
The fourth-seeded Cowgirls are set to face the top-seeded LSU Lady Tigers Friday afternoon. The Cowgirls played a rigorous schedule early on that has helped them improve and allowed them to face more difficult competition.
The NCAA Softball Tournament bracket was released Sunday night, and the Baton Rouge Regional will feel a lot like a family reunion. Louisiana’s three collegiate softball powerhouses; LSU, UL-Lafayette and McNeese will all be competing against each other in the postseason just like they did in 2017.

The NCAA lifted their seating capacity for the upcoming Spring Championships meaning the Softball Regional at LSU s Tiger Park May 21-23 will now have 100 percent capacity available.
Previously the college governing body had a 50% restriction in place for it s outdoor venues.
No. 7 LSU will host the four-team, double-elimination regional for the sixth straight year. The Baton Rouge Regional features LSU, UL-Lafayette, George Washington and McNeese. The Tigers and Cowgirls kick things off at 3 p.m. Friday.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - There will be 100 percent capacity allowed at Tiger Park for the NCAA Softball Baton Rouge Regional, the NCAA announced Wednesday, May 19.
The regional will be played Friday, May 21 through Sunday, May 23.
No. 7 LSU will host UL-Lafayette, George Washington, and McNeese.
It is the sixth year the Tigers have hosted a regional.
The Tigers and Cowgirls play at 3 p.m. Friday for the first game.
LAFAYETTE The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns won’t have to travel very far for NCAA postseason play.
The Ragin’ Cajuns will make the short trip across the basin as the storied program will take part in the Baton Rouge Regional held at Tiger Park. This marks the 22nd consecutive NCAA appearance and 29th appearance overall.
The four teams in the regional are top seed LSU (32-19), second seed Louisiana (44-10), third seed George Washington (37-9) and fourth seed McNeese (34-24).
The opening day of the regional will be Friday and will see LSU take on McNeese while Louisiana plays George Washington.
