Congressman Garcia Raises Concerns In President Biden’s Issue Of Cyber Attacks On U.S. Companies
Congressman Mike Garcia, R-Santa Clarita, and other lawmakers sent a letter to President Joe Biden last week regarding Biden’s inactivity in resolving several cyberattacks on U.S. companies.
The highest concern Garcia and other lawmakers had mentioned in the letter involving the cyberattacks are the attacks upon José Batista Sobrinho (JBS), USA-North America’s largest meatpacker, according to officials.
“We cannot allow American companies and infrastructure to become vulnerable to cyberthreats,” Garcia said. “America is the leader of the Free World and our lack of action in addressing these attacks sets a dangerous precedent for the future.”
Beef giant JBS vows to go deforestation-free 14 years from now
by Aurora Solá on 6 April 2021
JBS, a giant company implicated in multiple cases of large-scale forest clearing in Brazil, recently made a commitment to achieve zero deforestation across its global supply chain by 2035. Environmentalists argue this pledge is grossly insufficient.
In a new Soy and Cattle Deforestation Tracker, JBS scores just a single point out of 100. Its nearest competitors, Minerva and Marfrig, have scores of 46/100 and 40/100 respectively.
Tagging and tracking systems to ensure transparency along the entire beef supply have long been proposed, but JBS has resisted disclosing its full list of suppliers.
