Premier Doug Ford says there will be no new provincial funding to extend Ottawa s light rail transit system to Barrhaven and Kanata until the city of Ottawa and OC Transpo fix the problems with the current O-Train line between Blair and Tunney s Pasture stations.
OC Transpo rolls out its new summer schedule today, which includes service adjustments to accommodate the closures of two sections of the Transitway in Ottawa s west end.
Commuters are being warned that buses will be detoured onto city streets and bus stops will be moved as the Transitway closes between Tunney s Pasture and Dominion stations and between Iris Station and Baseline Station.
Ottawa city council has changed the path of the future light rail line to Barrhaven to avoid tearing down rental homes, but the new plan could also cost up to $50 million more than the initial plan projected.
