ST. LOUIS, MO., March 9, 2021 – The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that they will be utilizing GCS Credit Union Ballpark in Sauget, Illinois as their Alternate Training Site beginning in April. GCS Credit Union Ballpark, opened in 2002, serves as the home of the Gateway Grizzlies of the 16-team Frontier League.
“We are pleased to have partnered with the Gateway Grizzlies and the Sauget community to serve as the hosts for our Alternate Training Site,” stated Cardinals’ President of Baseball Operations
John Mozeliak. “The close proximity of GCS Credit Union Ballpark to Busch Stadium and our Major League team is beneficial, and it provides the players with a professionally-run facility for their workouts while we continue to prepare for our season.”

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KFVS) - The Cardinals announced on Thursday night, February 4 they traded outfield Dexter Fowler to the Los Angeles Angels.
This was in exchange for a player-to-be-named-later or cash considerations.
“We are extremely grateful for everything that Dexter has done for us over the past four years, both on the field and with his generous work in the community,” said Cardinals President of Baseball Operations John Mozeliak. “With the expectation that we will have plenty of competition in the outfield this season, and with Dexter’s approaching free agency, we felt that this deal made the most sense for all parties.”

Arenado will retain player options for the 2022 and 2023 seasons, and he has agreed to a one-year contract extension for 2027 that would extend his contract to seven years in length.

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KFVS) - The St. Louis Cardinals announced they agreed to a one-year deal with pitcher Adam Wainwright.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“We are pleased to announce that Adam is returning for the upcoming season, and we look forward to seeing him continue to add to his great Cardinals legacy,” stated Cardinals President of Baseball Operations John Mozeliak. “While he continues to pitch at a high level, Adam also remains a highly-respected team leader who has committed himself to being a wonderful ambassador for both the game and his community.”
