Karnataka: Counting gets underway for bypolls to one Lok Sabha seat and two Assembly ones

According to the Chief Electoral Officer, the counting started at 8 AM under tight vigil. Policemen were deployed to ensure COVID-19 protocol is strictly followed and no law and order situation arises. The police have banned political processions or celebrations in groups in view of the rising virus cases.
Counting for bypolls to 1 LS, 2 Assembly constituencies underway
Counting is underway for the bypolls to one Lok Sabha seat and two Assembly segments. The voting took place for Belgaum Lok Sabha, and Maski and Basavakalyan Assembly constituencies on April 17. There were 30 candidates in the fray 10 in Belgaum, 12 in Basavakalyan and eight in Maski.

In a series of tweets, Yediyurappa said that the BJP may have lost in West Bengal, but winning 75 seats from just 3 seats in 2016 clearly shows that people s faith in Modi s has only grown.

Bengaluru, May 1 : The votes polled during the by-elections to the Belgaum parliamentary constituency and two Assembly segments in Karnataka Maski in Raichuru district and Basavakalyana in Bidar district on April 17 will be counted on Sunday.
The outcome of the bypolls, held amid the raging second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in the state, assumes significance for both the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition Congress.

AAA The MLC and president of Daskhina Kannada Congress Committee K. Harish Kumar has tested positive for COVID-19 and is being treated at a private hospital in the city.
Mr. Kumar told The Hindu that he developed diarrhea while on the election campaign in North Karnataka and had got himself tested for COVID-19 in Bidar on April 12, which turned out to be negative. He took treatment for diarrhea. After he returned to the city from the campaign he felt exhausted and got himself admitted to the A.J. Hospital and Research Centre on April 16. The COVID-19 test in the hospital has confirmed the infection.

BELAGAVI/KALABURGI: The worsening Covid situation impacted the by-polls held to Belagavi Lok Sabha and Basavakalyan Assembly constituencies in Bidar district on Saturday as the average voting in both these segments dropped drastically as compared to the last elections. However, the Maski Assembly constituency (ST reserved, Raichur district) recorded 77.48 per cent.
Belagavi Deputy Commissioner Dr K Harish Kumar said that 54.02 per cent polling was recorded in the Belagavi Lok Sabha bypoll at the end of polling at 7 pm on Saturday. The average final polling at the Basavakalyan constituency is expected to be not more than 62 to 64 per cent. The DC said that of the eight Assembly segments which Belagavi Lok Sabha constituency covers, Gokak recorded the highest of 60.47 per cent voting, while the Belagavi North the lowest at 42.88 per cent.
