The Baruna Jaya IV research vessel deployed a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) to locate the cockpit voice recorder of the ill-fated flight.
JAKARTA: Research vessel Baruna Jaya has detected the suspected location of the crashed Sriwijaya Air flight SJ-182’s cockpit voice recorder (CVR), officials informed on Thursday.
Chief of the Agency for Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT), Hammam Riza, said the agency’s Baruna Jaya IV is still at the crash site and is continuing to search for the CVR, which is part of the black box flight recorder.
“The search for the CVR is still ongoing using an undersea robot which is commonly called Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV),” he said in a press statement released on Thursday.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) confirmed that the operation to search for victims and wreckage of the ill-fated Sriwijaya Air SJ182 aircraft on Thursday involved 268 divers.
The divers are concentrated on six spots of the location where the aircraft crashed into the waters between Laki Island and Lancang Island, Pulau Seribu District, six days ago, Operation Director of Basarnas Brigadier General Rasman stated during a press conference at the JICT 2 Pier, Tanjung Priok, here on Thursday.
President issues three directives on handling of SJ-182 crash 12th January 2021

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, on Tuesday outlined three instructions from President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on the handling of the Sriwijaya Air flight SJ-182 crash. During the meeting, President Joko Widodo gave instructions on the following accelerated steps, Sumadi said at a press conference here on Wednesday.
President Widodo has ordered that rescuers find the black box, retrieve the victims bodies, and the wreckage from the plane as quickly as possible. The FDR (Flight Data Recorder) has been found, the minister confirmed.
