The snowstorms that overwhelmed much of the United States from Feb. 14-17 brought snow accumulation and low temperatures not seen in Fort Smith in years.
The 6 inches of snow Fort Smith received over the week was the most since 2015, when the city received 6.6 inches of snow over the year. It was 16.6 inches less than the 1921 record of cumulative snowfall.
The Feb. 16 low temperature of -8 was the lowest the area had gotten since Jan. 10, 1977. The city s record low is -15, on Feb. 12, 1899.
