On a night that saw three newcomers sworn in to the Barstow City Council, two outgoing officials were honored for their many years of service to the community.
During a special meeting Monday, longtime Barstow Mayor Julie Hackbarth McIntyre and Mayor Pro Tem Carmen Hernandez received proclamations as recognition for their contributions to the city after both lost re-election bids last month.
Hackbarth-McIntyre served on the City Council for 14 years, including the past eight as mayor. She was the second woman ever mayor in Barstow. It s been an honor, she said during Tuesday s meeting. Through my 14 years there s been a lot of things that have happened in this community and I m really truly honored.
