Garfield County commissioners want city to address traffic concerns when considering West Glenwood pasture annexation

Garfield County staff provided an impact analysis on the proposed annexation of 15 acres in West Glenwood during Monday’s county commissioners meeting, highlighting concerns about additional traffic congestion. Wyatt Keesbery, Garfield County Road and Bridge Director, said that he would like to see the city annex and take ownership of Donegan Road, Storm King Road and Mel Ray Road, the three roadways that surround the proposed development site. “I think this would be a great opportunity for the city of Glenwood Springs to take on all of West Glenwood,” Keesbery said. “Right now there’s very limited use basically just West Glenwood uses those roads.”

A contract sale price was not disclosed. The Glenwood Springs Mall is an area that has been identified for redevelopment in the city of Glenwood Springs’ comprehensive plan. Friday letters: Mainstream media, Cottonwood Pass, and West Glenwood development

Regular vs social media stats A recent article from CNN.com caught my eye. It concerned the news that about 100 people who received the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccination later came down with Guillain-Barré syndrome. Mathematically, that comes out to 0.0008% of that group. That is 8 ten-thousandths of 1%.  CNN followed that statement with the statement, “It’s not clear whether those cases of Guillain-Barré syndrome resulted from the vaccine.” CNN is not alone in reporting this news this way. It’s got everbody on social media up in arms, too.  The problem? CNN goes on to report that 3,000 to 6,000 people develop Guillain-Barré (out of our population of 330 million) which is (wait for it)…. 0.0009% to 0.0018%, 9 to 18 ten-thousandths of a percent.

Glenwood Springs City Council to determine fate of proposed housing development in West Glenwood

Planning and zoning commission to continue deliberating multi-million development plans near West Glenwood Mall at May meeting

The Glenwood Springs Planning and Zoning Commission will continue deliberating the approval of a planned unit development district application near the West Glenwood Mall due to resident concerns about population density and building heights. The project plans involve constructing 360 rental units at 214 Center Drive, which is currently a vacant lot. It also includes multiple infrastructure upgrades within the area. The current owner of the parcel is the Diemoz family, who own the company under the company Glenwood Partnership LLLP. R2 Partners, the developer for the project, will purchase the parcel from Glenwood Partnership LLLP. The official applicant is listed as 214 Center Drive, LLC, which is an official affiliate of R2 Partners.
