A 75-year-old former scout leader has been remanded on continuing bail after a jury failed to reach a verdict in a case where he was charged with indecently assaulting a boy in Co Cork.
Noel Sheehan, of Chimneyfields, Glenville, Co Cork, had denied a single count of indecent assault on the 13-year-old boy at an address in Glenville on a date unknown between January 7th, 1986 and April 31st, 1987.
The complainant, who is now aged 48, told the jury of three men and nine women on the opening day of the trial at Cork Circuit Criminal Court that he was part of a group of scouts who were staying at a derelict building that they were doing up for use by the scouts in Glenville.

Emmet OâConnor (28) from Shronemore, Rathmore, was found guilty at the Central Criminal Court last December of two counts of rape as well as of organising prostitution and intimidating a witness .
OâConnor was remanded in custody for sentencing on Thursday by Mr Justice Michael White, who sentenced him to eight years on the rapes, two years consecutive for organising prostitution and another year consecutive for the intimidation.
At his trial in Cork, the jury of six men and six women heard evidence that OâConnor told gardaà during interview he had rough sex with the victim but insisted it was consensual and typical of their sexual relationship.

A 45-year-old huntsman suffered fatal chest and head injuries when he was attacked by a stag as he went to feed the animal , an inquest has heard.
Father of three, Gerard Withers from Rossinarna, Liscarroll, Co Cork was fatally injured when, working on his own, he went to feed a red deer stag at the Duhallow Hunt Kennels in Liscarroll on December 29 last.
At an inquest in Mallow on Wednesday, Mr Withers’ father, Derry told how his son called to him at his home in Liscarroll at about 2.30pm on the day in question and told him that he was going to the kennels to feed the hounds.

An Bord Pleanala granting permission to a developer to build an apartment complex on the grounds of a former mother and baby home in Cork would amount to a complete repudiation of Government policy regarding the legacy of such homes, a planning hearing was told on Friday.
Barrister for the Cork Survivors and Supporters Alliance (CSSA), David Dodd BL said that if An Bord Pleanala was to grant planning permission for 179 apartments on a site in the former Bessborough mother and baby home in Cork, it would be contrary to government policy regarding such homes.
