Federal Member for Capricornia Michelle Landry is calling on the state Labor members for Rockhampton and Keppel to step up and help Central Queensland’s “housing crisis”.
In a letter addressed to The Morning Bulletin, Ms Landry claimed Member for Rockhampton Barry O’Rourke and Member for Keppel Brittany Lauga had a “if I look away it will go away” attitude to local issues, including Central Queensland’s “housing affordability crisis”.

Central Queenslanders have two weeks to apply for grants up to $15,000 toward community projects that prevent and respond to domestic violence.
Member for Rockhampton Barry OâRourke said the grants would provide an opportunity to support and address issues that affected women in Rockhampton and strengthen partnerships across Queensland communities.
The Investing in Queensland Women program will provide $540,000 through two rounds of funding each year.
Organisations can apply in each round of grants, with categories consisting of up to $5,000, $10,000 and $15,000 amounts for initiatives.
âCommunity-driven initiatives and activities can include targeted campaigns or events, such as workshops or training, or the development of community resources to promote and respond to a particular issue,â Mr OâRourke said.

The new area comprises two projects, a science laboratory and a flexible learning area which will be used for drama and music lessons.
Barry O’Rourke MP did the honours on behalf of the State Government which contributed about $1.2 million to the $2 million bill.
Principal Michael Appleton expressed his gratitude to private donors who funded the remainder.
