A financial boost for the new Red Lake New Starts of Women housing project.
The federal government has announced 4.2 million dollars in funding for the 2-storey, 10-unit transitional housing unit.
The development is being managed by the Kenora District Services Board.
KDSB Chair Barry Baltessen says through this commitment and financial support the community of Red Lake will be better positioned to support women and children fleeing domestic violence with safe housing and supports.
The project consists of 60 per cent affordable rental units and 40 per cent market rentals.
Construction started in October 2019 and is expected to end in April.
Meanwhile, the Kenora District Services Board updated it’s 10-year Housing Plan.
