The detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has petitioned the British House of Lords for urgent intervention in his detention and case with the Nigerian government. Kanu, who possesses dual citizenship as a Nigerian and a Briton, wrote the petition through his special counsel, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, describing himself as a political activist who is advocating for self-determination for the people of Biafra Nation, in the Southeastern region of Nigeria.

Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, the special counsel to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has said that failure of the Supreme Court of Nigeria to release the Certified True Copy (CTC) of its judgment on the IPOB leader’s case has amounted to violation of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Ejimakor, who said this in a statement issued on Wednesday, said that it has been 33 days after the apex court delivered its final judgment in Kanu’s case on December 15, 2023 but it failed to release the CTC of the judgment.
Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, the special counsel for the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has accused the Nigerian government of deliberately denying his client the opportunity to clear his name. The lawyer said this in a short statement he made via his X account on Thursday after the visit of the legal team to the IPOB leader in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS), noting that Kanu had been reduced to a victim of false imprisonment by the Nigerian government over the non-fixing of a date for his trial.

Kanu’s Special Counsel, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, who made this known in a statement, said the detained IPOB leader expressed his displeasure during a routine visit to him at the Department of State Service (DSS) in Abuja, by his legal team.
