Authorities and tourism operators in the Australian outback are preparing for another surge in first-time travellers and with it a wave of new drivers eager to tackle dirt roads and red desert.

Civilian employee, and Executive Assistant for the NSW Police Academy, Lisa Gardner, has also been recognised for her outstanding service to the NSW Police Force and will be awarded the Public Service Medal (PSM).
Commissioner Fuller said the awards reflect the years of service each employee has dedicated to the NSWPF and the people of NSW.
“Each year, we recognise a handful of employees for their exceptional careers with the NSW Police Force, where they have displayed not only professionalism and high-quality work, but passion and commitment,” Commissioner Fuller said.

Clandestine laboratory dismantled at Broken Hill
Police have located and dismantled a clan lab as part of investigations into the manufacture of prohibited drugs in the state’s Far West.
As part of ongoing investigations into the manufacture and supply of methylamphetamine in the Broken Hill area, detectives from Barrier Police District, assisted by the Proactive Crime Team executed a search warrant at a home on Boughtman Street just after 7am on Wednesday (Wednesday 20 January 2021).
During the search, police located and seized methylamphetamine, cannabis, drug paraphernalia, mobile phones, a replica firearm and prohibited weapons.
Equipment and chemicals, consistent with the supply and manufacture of prohibited drugs, were also located.
