Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has directed all MDAs and LGAs in the state to comply fully with Abia State Revenue Laws and the Abia State Internal Revenue Service (ABIRS) directives in order to achieve the much-needed revenue for state development. Ikpeazu gave this charge last week when he met with members of the State IGR Council to express his concerns about the current economic downturn in the country as it affects the State’s economy, given that a significant drop in FAAC disbursements is expected in the coming months.

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, on Monday, met with members of his cabinet in Aba on Monday to deliberate on additional measures needed to ensure protection of lives and property in the state following recent attacks on police stations by yet to be identified hoodlums.
Briefing newsmen after the meeting which was attended by the Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Ude Oko Chukwu, and other members of the state executive council, the Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, stated that the state government was set to organize a security roundtable involving key stakeholders in the state to review the prevailing situation and recommend measures to further improve security in the State.

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has said that the dissolution of the State Executive Council does not affect the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr Uche Ihediwa, Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, and the Commissioner for Health, Dr Joe Osuji.
Recall that Ikpeazu had approved the immediate dissolution of the State Executive Council on a Saturday.
He had also ordered all those affected by the dissolution to hand over all government property in their possession as well their handover notes to their respective permanent secretaries.
The Governor also approved the recall from suspension of his Chief of Staff, Dr. Anthony Agbazuere.

The Abia state government has, on Saturday, announced the exemption of the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Uche Ihediwa, Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, and the Commissioner for Health, Dr Joe Osuji from the dissolution of the State Executive Council which was announced yesterday.
