Love in Lockdown: Kilkenny actors showcase new works on March 18 Reporter:   ); Love in Lockdown: a challenge at the best of times! This is theatre at its resilient best from the partnership of Barnstorm Theatre Company and Barn Owl Players in Kilkenny. With all the restrictions keeping people isolated in our homes, local theatre is still happening behind closed doors, on radio and online. In Kilkenny, the theatre community has risen to the challenge and explored how, where and when theatre shows can be presented. Last November there was a call out to writers in the region to create new short plays for two characters - Love in Lockdown is the result and what a result! The producers are delighted with the talent and variety of the new works. Twenty writers submitted original scripts and 10 have been chosen to produce in two programmes.

Kilkenny theatre group is looking for actors for latest production Reporter: );   ); The Barn Owl Players are leading the way when it comes to innovative solutions to the challenges facing the future of live performance in a pandemic. In 2020 local theatre group Barn Owl Players in partnership with Barnstorm Theatre Company created and presented Zoom BOP: Confinement which produced a series of original monologues by artists in the region. The partnership has gone a step further with a New Writing Project under the banner of Love in Lockdown which was launched in November last and produced 20 new plays, each for two actors.

He was born in Cobh 63 years ago, but with Castlecomer in his veins he couldn’t resist moving to Kilkenny.

Twenty writers sign up to get involved in Lock in Lockdown project Reporter:   ); Barnstorm Theatre Company and Barn Owl Players have joined forces to produce Love in Lockdown – a series of original short plays written by new and existing writers in the region. Twenty writers signed up to the project and over the past few weeks have been busily penning their new works with guidance and input from playwrighting mentor Maeve Ingoldsby. Talent “It is so exciting to find such varied talent,” the veteran writer of stage and TV. “The future of theatre, especially in terms of writing, is sound.”
