An aerial photo of the Shearings interchange site before it closed CHECKS at a post-Brexit inland border facility for lorries in Appleton Thorn are expected to take up to two hours. The Government will use the former Shearings interchange site in Appleton Thorn as a 24/7 inland border control point for heavy goods vehicles from January 1 after the Brexit transition period ends. Development work is currently taking place to get the site ready for operation. Once customs checks have been completed at the facility, drivers are expected to leave and continue their journey. This is to make sure the number of vehicles on site is kept to a minimum to reduce the risk of congestion.
