U3A Cinema Group s first offering for 2021 is an unusual but remarkable documentary recording the development of a relationship between a painter and a thief.
Norwegian director Benjamin Ree invested three years in making this film.
The painter, Barbora Kysilkova, has two paintings stolen from an exhibition she is mounting. The thief, Karl-Bertil Nordland, is quickly brought to justice.
Asked by Kysilkova why he stole the paintings, Nordland s response leads to the artist requesting permission to paint the drug addled petty criminal.

1. CRIP CAMP: A DISABILITY REVOLUTION
(Netflix)
âCrip Camp,â which was directed by Nicole Newnham and James LeBrecht, follows a group of disabled teens at Camp Jened in the Catskills during 1971.
Designed for these kids, the camp offers them the opportunity to be accepted and free, like any other adolescent. Building on their experience as adults, campers Judith Heumann, James Lebrect and others become activists in the disability civil rights movement. They play a huge role in getting federal standards of ADA compliance.
2. THE DISSIDENT
Bryan Fogelâs well-reviewed in-depth documentary examines the life and death of Jamal Khashoggi.

commit high-stakes crimes with a delicate touch when a
chance Google search in 2015 uncovered a botched heist in
Oslo. The Czech hyperrealist painter Barbora Kysilkova had
just received a distressing phone call from the owner of the
Galleri Nobel. Two of her large canvases had been stolen in
broad daylight, but the theft had been recorded by security
