SOUTH BEND For as long as she can remember, Laquisha Jackson has been the person people depend on to cook.
Jackson currently owns a catering business called Soulful Kitchen were she prepares meals for weddings, meetings, parties and any event where folks want good food but don’t have the time or skill to get into the kitchen and prepare the food themselves.
But even before that, Jackson got her start as a cook by making meals for her brothers and sisters whenever her grandmother asked her to do so which was often.
“She would always have me go into the kitchen and cook, and it wasn’t her showing me this is how you do it,” Jackson recalled. “It was like go in there and cook some pork chops and some chicken and kind of figure it out.”
