We had been lulled into complacency, tricked by the always fickle Mother Nature. We had let our guard down. We had forgotten. Now that we are experiencing a basically average winter, now that our streets are icy and rutted beyond all hope, we remember that  no matter what bill of goods the city tries to sell us  Columbus does not do snow removal well.

Main St. on the Near East Side on Dec. 20 to buy groceries for a friend who had lost their job during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Around 7 p.m., Halle, who does not want her last name used for fear of retaliation, began loading the groceries into the back of her SUV as she saw another vehicle stopped in the aisle. Within seconds, a teen had jumped out of the SUV and grabbed Halle s purse at the same time she did. A short struggle ensued, ending with Halle s purse being stolen with her wallet and cellphone inside.

How much snow did Ohio get? A look at the winter storm The Columbus Dispatch © Barbara J. Perenic/Columbus Dispatch A winter storm is expected to dump 8-12 inches of snow on Ohio. Not as much snow fell as initially forecast  from the winter storm that passed through Ohio on Monday into early Tuesday, but snow totals were still impressive, especially in western and northern Ohio, according to the National Weather Service.  The final winter storm warnings in the state, in far northwest Ohio, were set to expire at 10 a.m. Tuesday, but road conditions remained hazardous in many locations throughout the state.
