NORRISTOWNÂ â A proposal to outsource positions advocating for some of the areaâs most vulnerable residents was met with opposition during the April 1 Montgomery County Board of Commissioners meeting.
âThese ombudsmen can navigate any critical issues that we are about to witness. For years they have built good relationships with long-term care facility staff and residents living in long-term care facilities. This is not the time to disrupt this important work,â said volunteer ombudsman Lydia Krezmininski.
âI agree itâs not the time, if any time, to make a change like this,â said Montgomery Township resident Carolyn Michener. âOur group of ombudsmen are so experienced and have ties through the community and I d hate to see that change.â
NORRISTOWNÂ â The Montgomery County Board of Commissioners issued a proclamation formally recognizing February 2021 as Black History Month and acknowledging the efforts of the local planning committee.
âI just want to thank the committee members for making sure this event happened this year,â said Montgomery County Commissionersâ Vice Chairman Ken Lawrence Jr.
The Montgomery County Black History Month Planning Committee is comprised of members Lynne Willis, a case worker for Montgomery County Aging and Adult Services, Tara Gaudin, director of Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, Lora Gonzalez, the department s assistant to Gaudin, and Norristown Municipal Councilman Hakim Jones.

NORRISTOWNÂ â While the tumultuous 2020 election season has ended, county leaders approved more than $2.23 million in contracts and services related to the Montgomery County Office of Voter Services.
Officials are looking ahead to the 2021 primary and general elections. According to the countyâs voter services office website, the primary election is slated to take place on May 18, and the general election is scheduled for Nov. 2.
