Thank you for making my 104th birthday so special

DULCIE Clatworthy has thanked everyone who helped make her 104th birthday so special. Dulcie received more than 500 cards, as well as flowers and presents from around the country on her big day on Monday (March 8). She also received a video message from TV presenter Lorraine Kelly at Manor Care Home, in Bishop s Hull, where she lives. The County Gazette published an appeal to send Dulcie cards. Her daughter, Barbara Clatworthy, was able to meet up with her mum on the day, which also saw certain Covid restrictions eased. Until Monday, Barbara and Dulcie had only been able to see each other through a glass partition.

Together at last! Tears of joy as families are reunited with their love ones in care homes

Heartwarming scenes of family reunion have been seen across the country as restrictions on care home visits are eased as part of Boris Johnson s roadmap out of lockdown.  Footage shows the moment Patsy, 81, and Fred, 82, who have been married 60 years, were able to hold hands and be together for the first time in 355 days at Ashlea Court Care Home, Waltham, Lincolnshire, yesterday. Prior to the pandemic Patsy would travel to visit Fred, who has advanced dementia, every day from her home in Cleethorpes. Patsy said: It has been almost exactly a year to the day since we last saw each other properly, we tried to do visits through the window and on video chat but with his condition that just upset him.
