TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite: The coming elections may be for barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan officials, but that does not mean that mayors and their political rivals can t get into the action.On Friday, October 20, the city s chief executive was accused of fraud and vote buying by a former mayor.Melencio de Sagun Jr., the former mayor, went to the Trece Martires City Police Office and filed a complaint against the incumbent Gemma Lubigan.In de Sagun s statement to the police, he alleged that Lubigan had gathered residents and voters at the Queen s Joy Resort in Barangay San Agustin at around 9:30 a.m. on Friday.He accused the mayor of giving money to the voters in exchange for votes in the October 30 polls.The police are currently investigating the complaint filed by the former mayor.The police also forwarded the complaint to Trece Martires City election officer James Andrew Recio.Mayor Lubigan could not be reached for comment.
