BCF holds exciting Preview Day in Lakeland

The open-house preview day events held at The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville each semester is a day filled with excitement for members of the faculty, staff, and student body as they welcome prospective students to the campus. However, on April 29, at Medulla Baptist Church in Lakeland, Fla., the one-day event offered two open-house preview day opportunities to meet the needs of the community and to provide a chance to meet as many prospective students as possible. On April 10, 2021 during their Executive Board Meeting, a formal signing took place for the new partnership (tuition scholarship) between The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville and the West Virginia Convention of Southern Baptists (WVCSB). Signees included BCF President Thomas A. Kinchen and Eric W. Ramsey, WVCSB Executive Director-Treasurer. Kinchen, who also served as West Virginia’s third executive director from 1986 to 1990, told WVCSB Executive Board members, “I don’t know what your questions might be, but the answer is yes; whatever we can do, however we can do, whenever we can do, please know that West Virginia is in my heart.” He drew laughs from the board while sharing, “I was sitting here remembering the last time I attended a meeting in this room was the celebration they threw when I left.” Kinchen has served faithfully as The Baptist College of Florida’s President since acceptin
Bi-vocational Ministers Scholarship continues to grow

BCF President Thomas A. Kinchen accepts check for $30,000 from the Florida Baptist Financial Services Executive Director/Treasurer for the Bi-vocational Minister’s Scholarship fund.
Students attending The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville participate in a full range of state and federal aid programs to help with college expenses. These financial aid programs, loans, grants, and also scholarships provided through fundraising initiatives, friends of the college donations, memorial gifts, and church sponsorships play a huge part in meeting the financial needs of students as they attend college preparing for areas of ministry and service. Thankfully, financial assistance sometimes comes in the form of unexpected employment opportunities or from an incredible scholarship initiative such as the one established for bi-vocational ministers. BCF Jazz Band to perform at Spring Concert.
The Music and Worship Division of The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) will present their annual Spring Concert on May 6, at 7:00 p.m. in the BCF Wellness Center located in the heart of the Graceville campus. BCF faculty and students have been working diligently in anticipation of the event that highlights the incredible musical talent within the Music and Worship Division. In addition to showcasing the amazing skill of BCF students, this year there will be a special time of recognition honoring retired Music Professor Buford Cox and wife, Judy.
Cox has served as a distinguished Professor of Music at The Baptist College of Florida for well over 25 years, teaching courses in piano, music theory, music technology, graduate courses, conducting, and so much more.
