Jacqueline Hanratty, 32, pleaded guilty at the city’s Rickergate court. Court records say that it happened on July 30 last year in Oakshaw Close, Carlisle, and that while out of control her “large black mastiff” injured a male police officer. After hearing a summary of the case, magistrates imposed a community order on the defendant, whose address was given as Bankhead Avenue, Aberdeen. She was also fined £100 and must pay the injured officer £150 compensation. In addition she must pay a victim surcharge of £95 and prosecution costs – always higher when there has been a trial – of £600, making £945 in total.
