Services hit after two-day nationwide bank strike:- United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), the body of nine unions is on a two-day nationwide strike that starts from today against the privatization of the lenders. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the privatization of two public sector banks last month during the Union Budget presentation in the process of a disinvestment plan. The Indian government already privatized IDBI Bank in 2019 after selling the majority stake and merged 14 public sector banks in the last four years. With this two-day strike, the transactions of the banks came to a halt for four complete days in a row with Saturday and Sunday being holidays.
Bank employees strike to hit SBI services on March 15, 16
While the country s largest lender has made all the arrangements to ensure normal functioning in its branches and offices, it is likely that the work in the bank may be impacted by the strike.

The working of State Bank of India (SBI) is likely to be affected on March 15 and 16 as bank employees unions have called for a nationwide strike on these days. .we have been advised by Indian Banks Association (IBA) that United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU). has given a call for all India strike by bank employees on 15th & 16th March, 2021, SBI said in an exchange filing.

Public sector lender Canara Bank on Thursday said that banking services may get affected later this month due to the proposed strike by several bank unions. We have been informed by the Indian Banks Association (IBA) that the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has given a call for strike in the banking industry on March 15 and March 16, for issues relating to industry level and not for any bank level issues, Canara Bank said in a regulatory filing.
