DAVAO CITY – The interim Bangsamoro Parliament on Friday, January 29, passed a resolution, declaring its full support to the pending House bills seeking to extend the term of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) until 2025.
At present, four bills are pending in the House of Representatives to move the elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) from 2022 to either 2025 or 2028.
In a statement on Saturday, January 30, the Bangsamoro Parliament said the first two measures were House Bills 8116 and 8117, filed on December 1, 2020, respectively, by Antique’s lone district Rep. Loren Legarda and Maguindanao second district Rep. Esmael G. Mangudadatu.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 22) While President Rodrigo Duterte has expressed support for the extension of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority s term, this has not been discussed in Congress, with a little more than a year left before the transitional government is dissolved.
In a media briefing on Friday, Bangsamoro officials said it is impossible to finish all essential transition works with the little time left, and is appealing for three more years, or until 2025. Not because we want to be in power, Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim said. It s not the power in the governance (we are after) but it is the success of the implementation process of the peace agreement.
