29th January, 2021 12:39:31 The results of Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent exams of 2020 will be published on early Saturday. The results will be officially announced at the International Mother Language Institute in Dhaka’s Segunbagicha at 10:30am. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will join the programme through video conference from Ganabhaban, said the education ministry. The HSC results were prepared based on the students’ Junior School Certificate (JSC), and Secondary School Certificate SSC results as no exams were held considering the Covid-19 situation. The results will be published after compiling 75 percent of the SSC and 25 percent from the JSC and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) results, said Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni recently.

The results of HSC and equivalent exams of 2020 under 11 education boards nine general education boards, one madrasa education board and one technical education board will be published today. The government could not hold the HSC and equivalent exams due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The HSC batch of 2020 will be the first batch of students who will get certificates without sitting for the examinations as it is the first time in the history of the country that a public examination has been cancelled.

The three bills are Intermediate and Secondary Education (Amendment) Bill, 2021, Bangladesh Vocational Education Board (Amendment) Bill, 2021; and Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board (Amendment) Bill, 2021. With the consent of the president, the three bills passed in Parliament last Sunday turned into law, Parliament Secretariat sources said. As per the law, there is no bar to publish the results of HSC and equivalent exams without holding tests during a pandemic, epidemic, and Act of God.

Education Minister Dipu Moni placed the bills Intermediate and Secondary Education (Amendment) Bill, 2021, Bangladesh Vocational Education Board (Amendment) Bill, 2021 and Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board (Amendment) Bill, 2021), which were passed by voice vote this noon. The amendments were made to Intermediate and Secondary Education Ordinance 1961 , Bangladesh Vocational Education Board Act 2018 and Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board Act 2020 . As per the existing laws, there is no provision to publish the results of HSC and equivalent exams without holding examination.
