Photo: Collected Star Digital Report Star Digital Report Rafiqul Islam Madani, widely known as Shishu Bokta , was placed on remand today in two cases filed with Motijheel and Tejgaon police stations.  A virtual court in Dhaka placed Madani on a four-day remand in a case filed with Motijheel Police Station over the violence on March 25 this year. Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Sufiyan Md Noman passed the order after Md Kamrul Hasan Talukder, an inspector of the Detective Branch of Police and also the investigation officer of the case, submitted a 10-day remand prayer.

Photo: Collected Star Digital Report Star Digital Report Maulana Korban Ali Kasemi, the vice-president of Hefajat-e-Islam s Dhaka Mahanagar committee, was arrested by Detective Branch of Gulshan Division police from the capital s Basabo area around 5:30pm today. Mashiur Rahman, deputy commissioner of Gulshan Division DB police, told The Daily Star that Kasemi joint secretary general of Bangladesh Khilafah Majlis was found to be involved in the Shapla Chattar violence in 2013 and recent violent activities at the Baitul Mukarram mosque on March 26. Kasemi will be shown arrested in a case filed regarding these incidents of violence, he added.

Top Hefajat-e Islam leader Mamunul Haque was arrested in the capital yesterday as the government continues crackdown on the Islamist outfit for its recent violent activities. He was shown arrested in a case filed last year over vandalism by activists of the Qawmi madrasa-based organisation in the capital s Mohammadpur area. Besides, law enforcement agencies arrested 31 people, mostly Hefajat men, over their alleged involvement in violence in different parts of the country, especially in Brahmanbaria, from March 26 to 28 in protest of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi s visit. Of them, 30 were arrested in Brahmanbaria and one in Narayanganj. With this, more than 300 people, mostly Hefajat activists, have been arrested over the incidents of violence.
