According to media reports, there are at least 30 BCL members who are inhabiting residential halls on university premises despite no longer being students, some of them for as long as 11 years.
For the past 14 years, Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) consistently makes headlines for their misconduct in public universities, which includes harassment, torture, criminal activities like extortion and mugging, and intimidation of teachers and journalists. University administrations rarely respond, and the ruling party appears indifferent as long as BCL controls the campuses.
