PTT plans to import more LNG following the depletion of resources at some gas fields in Myanmar. Gas demand in Thailand is expected to return to pre-Covid 19 levels at 4,800 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) this year even though the country has encountered two outbreaks that have led to travel restrictions, says PTT Plc. Last year, the pandemic caused demand to decrease by 10% to 4,300 MMSCFD but in the first quarter of 2021, demand grew by 8% year-on-year to 4,600 MMSCFD despite the second wave of Covid-19 earlier this year.

(Bangkok Post photo) The cabinet has approved the deferral of the full enforcement of the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) slated for this June by another year, with the explanation the country is facing a difficult time with the pandemic and the legislation’s related processes have yet to be settled. The postponement request was forwarded by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society to the cabinet meeting on Wednesday and the royal decree drafted to defer the enforcement was agreed upon, according to a ministry source.
