our oren liebermann at the pentagon calls the stuff. now, they are trying to figure out how to get it out there. there are several coast guard vessels here and other vessels that might work for it, so they are apparently working out the contract to get that, that piece of equipment from the airport to the harbor here and then out to the search site. keep in mind, it takes about 24 hours to get it out to the search site, plus they had to get it from the airport to a ship here that is rigged to handle it. these are very big pieces of equipment, and they need some specialized ability to get them into the water basically so that they can do their job. that, as we are hearing about the banging noises, what were described as a banging noses at regular intervals 24 hours ago, today, the coast guard says they are not quite sure what

occurring every 30 minutes. no, exactly. i mean, imagine, how unlikely is it that nature would precisely on the half an hour do that banging noise. it s pretty much inconceivable. i think we have a high degree of confidence that those banging noises come from the submersible. that was actually the good news i learned today that they re there. they re most likely alive. and we re in with a chance, a fighting chance. so, that s good news. so, if the people on board have less than a day s worth of oxygen left, are there things that they can do to try to stretch that supply out? i mean, obviously you re trying to remain calm. i guess, sleeping in order to reduce the amount of breath you re taking. is that all that somebody can do? absolutely. i think that that is what you can do. take it easy. don t stress. don t panic. use as little energy as you can. which is obviously easier
the coast guard, they are telling us more of those noises were found. and when i asked the coast guard, the head of the coast guard out here, the captain, i said, what more can you tell us about these noises? and he said, look, we just want to make it very, very clear that we don t know what the noises are. and so, what they ve done is, they ve taken all that acoustic data, they ve sent to the u.s. navy for analysis. and so, once they get back that analysis, they will have a greater sense of what those banging noises are. but you talk to the experts and they will tell you what those noises could be any number of things the ocean is a noisy place. it could be sea life. it could be the titanic metal settling. it could be other vessels that are out there. so, these are some of the dynamics that they are looking at. but because they have detected some of these noises, the so-called banging noises, they have sent extra resources into that particular area where they are searching. watch th
