Is being Locked Up Abroad any worse than being locked up at home?
At the beginning of this year, I wrote a column about the National Geographic channel series
Trafficked with Mariana van Zeller. The column focused on fentanyl, known by some as “the most dangerous drug in America.”
In that article, I mentioned my affinity for the National Geographic channel’s programming. Specifically, I referred to
Locked Up Abroad as one of my favorite entries in television’s general “crime” genre. I reflected on the fact that I have yet to cover that series in the four or so years I’ve been writing this column. Spoiler alert: That’s about to change.

Mei Li, who has an English mother and a Chinese father, was raised in Surrey England. Acting may be her first love these days, but a close second is education. Jessie worked with neuro divergent children before she auditioned for a National Youth Theatre course and soon found herself starring along Gillian Anderson and Lily James in All About Eve . The young actor then went onto be cast as Alina Starkov in Shadow and Bone and we re sure in coming years they ll say, the rest is history.

This month hails a new era of content on Disney+. The new ‘Star’ hub will launch on the platform on
February 23 (that’s today!), providing a space for Disney’s more mature content.
Star is set to bring nearly 450 new movies and 155 TV series to the platform, basically doubling the size of the existing content library. To compensate for this, the price of Disney+ is also going up (details on that, here). There is a workaround if you want to hold onto cheaper prices for a while, however.
