No damages found day after 3.9-magnitude earthquake shook Banff Jason Herring © Provided by Calgary Herald According the United States Geological Survey a magnitude 4.4 earthquake struck five kilometers north of Banff at approximately 6:33 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13. A 3.9-magnitude earthquake that struck Banff Saturday evening is not thought to have caused any damage, according to the town’s fire chief. Banff Fire Department chief Silvio Adamo said there’s no sign of impact from the quake, which hit Banff at 6:33 p.m. Saturday . Its epicentre was directly beneath Cascade Mountain, six kilometres north-northeast of the town. Adamo and crews were in touch with local utility providers TransAlta and ATCO, as well as municipal infrastructure to ensure the temblor didn’t cause any problems.
