Even being as old as i am in humanitarian work for the devastation, the destruction and this utter feeling of hopelessness among the population which is crammed together in Southern Gaza in rafah. So i was there three days, two nights, spoke with the mothers, the fathers, the children. And i must say, its in 2024 and were allowing this to happen. It is it is beyond belief. You talk about the hopelessness of the People Living through that experience. What about the hopelessness of people like you who are supposed to be making lives better, protecting those Vulnerable People . Were not giving up. When i go to such places, i become enraged. Isee. I need to fight harder. I need to get more resources. I need to get more colleagues there. I need to help mor
and make sure that you, you gather your animals that are obviously a part of the family, and there are shelters who do take the animals, and check that out as well at floridadisaster.org. yes, it is attractive and beautiful, but it is going to change somewhere this afternoon, and that is where you will see the bands of rain coming on shore, and there at least 20 counties in some form of evacuation mode. some of them are mandatory orders which is that you need to listen to authorities and get out. you are in danger. others are voluntary where you are in a dangerous spot, and to make sure that you are better safe than sorry, you should also think of leaving and what all of the authorities are saying that you don t have to go hundreds of mile or to another state, but just get away from the low-lying areas, because it is the water.
ojai. our crew here on the edge of the pacific ocean felt it quite clearly. fortunately, jon, we are being told by the weather service in the u.s. gs there is not any danger of a tsunami which is fortunate for us given we are about 10 feet from the pacific ocean here. you can see the bands of rain coming in more and more thickly now. we have been standing in this for around eight hours and i have to say the rain is heavier than it has been any point during those eight hours. you look at some of the lie that cameras we ve got further south into san diego area imperial beach, coronado for instance they are also in the thick of this right now as the storm crosses the center of the storm. crosses the border from mexico and will begin its move through southern california. it is going to be intensive. officials are warning there will be flash flood in many areas.
the governor says that includes more than 70 nursing homes in addition to some hospitals. cnn has teams positioned along the florida coast as well as in the bahamas where the storm is hitting right now. let s go to cnn s patrick o oppma oppmann. he s in freeport, bahamas. and, patrick, what is it like where you are? reporter: we still have these bands of rain coming in. you d think this storm is over and then it comes back, and it shows you that after 40 hours of beating the hell out of the bahamas, this thing will just not end. dorian has been hovering over us since early this morning in grand bahama. it destroyed abaco island yesterday. you would think even though it was done with the bahamas, you hear the sound of the rain picking up again and again. over too my right, there are trees that are broken.
if you zoom in right here you can see this line that sort of takes us inside the cone is away from the coast. now, the cone still covers much of the coast. that s why we still had the warnings in place. this is something to watch. right now the track could shift again. it has shifted for the benefit of florida a little further to the east. i was showing you the bands of rain coming in. you could see really heavy ones right now. that s something to keep in mind as we continue to monitor the system. we ll be watching for heavier bands to work their way through a good portion of florida. as we can see looking through much of florida, we ll be watching for heavy rain to come through. this is the outer eye wall band that the hurricane hunter detected. this is the inner eye wall. this one is measured at about eight nautical miles from the inside. it s pretty tight and pretty small. incidentally, this is where we had those category 4 winds at present. that s something to keep in mind as we go
