KLANG: Preparations are underway in Kajang and Semenyih to receive members of the public for Covid-19 screening.
The swab tests are being carried out by the Selangor state government to weed out Covid-19 positive cases from within the local community.
The exercise on Saturday (May 8) involves the Kajang and Semenyih state assembly constituencies and will be held at Dewan Cempaka, Saujana Impian, in Kajang and Dewan Orang Ramai, Bandar Rinching, Semenyih.
The screening exercise will be conducted by Selcare, which is the administrator of the Selangor government’s healthcare programme, Skim Peduli Sihat, with a team of 40 doctors, nurses and non-clinical staff.
PETALING JAYA: It was a relief for engineer KJ Kodisvaran when his swab test for Covid-19 came up negative.
The 33-year-old had gone to Semenyih to be screened as he had been feeling a little unwell recently.
“I was having body aches and a sore throat, so my brother advised me to go for the free screening that was being offered, ” said Kodisvaran, who lives in Broga.
He was one of over 600 people who went to the Bandar Rinching community hall for the Covid-19 screening organised by the Selangor state government.
Kodisvaran said he was very worried when he developed body aches and a cough.
PETALING JAYA: Covid-19 appears to be spreading at a rapid pace in Selangor and there are cases that do not seem to be linked to any clusters.
Selangor Task Force for Covid-19 chairman Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said the number of positive cases detected in yesterday’s screening was indicative of the widespread transmission of the virus.
“The results are telling us that there are sporadic cases that do not appear to be linked to any clusters, ” he said.
“We have to now investigate the link to these cases.”
The screening initiated by the Selangor state government was carried out by Selcare, the administrator of the state’s healthcare programme, Skim Peduli Sihat.
