MiSTerland updates for the beginning of May 2021
It s been a little quiet since the last time I checked in from MiSTerland. Let s take a look at some new developments in the CPS-2 beta and a new handheld core.

It s time to report from MiSTerland once again, but updates are a little quiet from the front of FPGA development. In this edition, it s more of the same as I ll be highlighting my two favorite FPGA engineers again, but these two guys are working insanely hard at providing MiSTer enthusiasts with more to play with and I want to showcase their awesome progress. That s right, it s Jose jotego Tejada and Robert FPGAzumSpass Peip and they re back with some amazing CPS-2 fighters and the beginning stages of a brand new core, respectively. Let s dive in!

For those looking for the best free emulators for Android, Retroarch is usually the answer. However, it’s can be harder to set up since it relies on individual cores that have to be downloaded. The versions found on the Google Play Store don’t include the core downloader due to store policies. Users will have to either download the cores manually and place them in the right location or sideload the APK from the RetroArch website, which includes the core downloader.

20. Gizmondo (2005)
OK, itâs here more for the amazing backstory than the qualities of the handheld itself, but Gizmondo did momentarily look like a contender back in 2004, offering text messaging, web browsing and video playback as well as mobile gaming. But then the founders burned through millions of investor funds on Regent Street stores and extravagant launch parties, and the whole thing collapsed in spectacular fashion, symbolised by one execâs (non-fatal) 200mph Ferrari crash on the Pacific Coast Highway.
19. Sega Dreamcast VMU (1998)
Admittedly, there was not a huge amount of developer support for Dreamcastâs amazingly idiosyncratic memory card/handheld console hybrid, but the fact that it even exists warrants it a place on the list. Despite its teeny 48 Ã 32 dot LCD screen, the VMU did support a range of mini games including a Chao pet sim in Sonic Adventure and Zombie Revengeâs surreal Zombie Fishing.
