A parking area on Ancroft Gardens in Morris Green RESIDENTS living in sheltered accommodation in Morris Green are being plagued by a wave of anti-social behaviour on a parking area. Complaints have been made by some living on Ancroft Gardens that people are using a parking spot to take drugs, drink alcohol and dump hoards of litter with laughing gas cannisters regularly discovered. Occupants are constantly disturbed by people pulling up in cars and leaving engines running along with the sound of vehicle doors banging. The anti-social behaviour usually happens from late afternoon going into the night, with residents frequently woken up and having their sleep interrupted.
Unveiled: Stratford-on-Sea plans to bring back tourists
| Updated: 14:29, 01 April 2021
AMBITIOUS plans to attract tourists to Stratford can be revealed by the
Herald today.
On the back of calls to bring visitors back to the area after the pandemic, plus the return of the big wheel to the Rec, a new company has been set up to bring a touch of the tourist attraction to Stratford.
A spokesman for the company, Stratford On Sea, said: There s precious little in the area at the moment to encourage people to visit, and the success of the big wheel has proved that there s a real market for good old-fashioned entertainment, so we ve got a stack of ideas we d like to put into action.
Are out-of-town visitors flouting lockdown by coming into Stratford-upon-Avon?
| Updated: 11:01, 08 March 2021
(Story published in current Herald, so weekend of 27th/28th is referred to.)
âWe love you normally but please go awayâ, was tourist town Stratfordâs message to the outside world after a busy sunny weekend.
For weeks worried locals have reported their alarm over the seeming escalation of visitors to the area. Many have voiced their frustration to the Herald, saying that out-of-town day-trippers are descending on the town unchecked, flouting Covid rules and undermining their own efforts to follow guidelines.

Derek Jacobi and Simon Callow first met at the Old Vic in London. Jacobi was treading the boards with Laurence Olivier, Peter O’Toole and other greats in the fledgling National Theatre company; the younger Callow was working at the box office. Prolific as ever through this lockdown year, both are juggling an assortment of stage and screen projects from home. They took time off to talk about Shakespeare, scathing reviews and how rifling through their family’s wardrobes led them into an acting career.
Derek Jacobi: Have we ever worked together, Simon? I can’t remember!
Concern over further planning application for Stratford s Waterside market
| Updated: 22:43, 26 January 2021
BUSINESSES in Stratford believe they are being overlooked again as the district council moves to formally allow for larger open-air markets.
Firms, already hit by Covid restrictions, are concerned a new planning application for Waterside will allow the craft and food market to carry on using parts of the area where no planning permission currently exists.
The application, which was made by SDC, is seeking permission to allow the market, which during normal times operates on Sundays and bank holidays, to increase the number of market stalls by 12 . The retrospective application seeks a change of use from public open space to a mixed use to allow for stalls as well as ticket sales, leisure and recreation.
