SURAT: The Diamond City will take multidimensional steps for overall air quality improvement. To develop its infrastructure, the civic body will utilize Rs 131 crore fund this year to ensure more breathable, cleaner air in the city.

Till now, the union environment ministry (MoEFCC) has issued Rs 10 crore funds towards this under National Clean Air Programme (NCAP). As part of the other air action plans, SMC will also focus on emission control in construction activities and biomass burning, ambient air quality monitoring, control of industrial pollution and creating awareness.
