that s a ban on trans for being their most authentic being the most effective fighting force is being authentic. the people next to you, you can trust them that they trust you and when it comes down to it, they are going to rely back on their training. but some of our core tenets are integrity first. if we can t even be honest about who we are, one of our core tenets of service is compromised. one of the things that s been brought up by folks who would support this ban is what it means to the u.s. as a strong fighting force. did you get any sense when you were in the military that the people you served with thought you were less than competent or less than dependable? i did the transition when i was in the military. so any conversations about how i performed my duties were completely centered around my ability to be trained and the ways in which i conducted myself. it was quite nice actually to have my identity be so separate from the work i was doing.
