A journalist and two children died in two separate blasts on Sunday in Balochistan s Hub and Hoshab areas. Journalist Shahid Zehri was travelling in his car on the RCD Highway and as he passed by the City Police Station in Hub a bomb exploded, the police said. Zehri was seriously wounded in the blast and was shifted to Karachi but succumbed to his injuries. The bomb had apparently been attached to the underside of the vehicle, the police say. Two other people were injured in the blast but their condition is out of danger. Zehri worked as a reporter for the private-run Metro One TV. The explosion was recorded by CCTV cameras. Volunteers convert unused building into a library, hold book festival
Book lovers welcomed 2021 with a book fair in Quetta. In 2019, some youngsters had converted the non-operational building of a local hospital into the Lore Karez Sariyab Library.
The three-day Sariyab Literary Festival and Book Fair (February 21 to 23) brought together teachers, students and a general book reading public from across the province.
The festival started on February 21, the Mother Languages Day, with a poetry recitations gathering. Many renowned poets presented their poetry in Balochi, Brahvi and Urdu and received appreciation from a lively audience. There were six discussion sessions at which issues like youth activism and leadership, career counselling, importance of reading book and female education and empowerment were discussed first among panelists and then by the panelists and the remaining participants. BPSC urged to play role for maintaining merit

Balochistan Governor Amanullah Khan Yasinzai has urged Balochistan Public Service Commission to play a key role in maintaining merit in the society.
He was presented an annual report of the BPSC by chairman Abdul Salik Khan on Monday at the Governor House.
While speaking to the delegation of BPSC members, he said, Unfortunately, our national institutions have not been able to fully succeed in creating a positive and constructive attitude in the people.”
The governor added that it is the responsibility of the state to provide employment opportunities to the youth of the country that forms a large part of the total population and use their potential for national interests.
