Balmertown fire declared out by MNRF - KenoraOnline: Kenora, Ontario s latest news, sports, weather, community events

The grass fire started early Tuesday morning near Balmer Creek, just south of the community. Two FireRangers crews, one CL-415 waterbomber and one Birddog aircraft assisted the Red Lake Fire Department with the blaze this week. The Red Lake OPP say they’re looking for who may be responsible for the blaze. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

The grass fire started just south of Balmertown near Balmer Creek on Tuesday morning and is reported, as of Wednesday morning, as being held at 15.5 hectares.  Two FireRanger crews, one CL-415 waterbomber and one birddog aircraft assisted the Red Lake Fire Department with this fire. No action required! The Municipality is aware that a fire of [approximately 6 hectares] in size is burning adjacent to Balmertown and Evolution. The MNRF Fire crews along with Red Lake Fire Rescue Fire Department are working diligently on suppressing this fire. We have been assured by MNRF that this fire is not a threat to the Balmertown Townsite and that the fire will be contained very soon, quoted the Municipality of Red Lake Facebook page on Tuesday.
