DETECTIVES IN THE North have made five arrests in Derry under the Terrorism Act today, three in connection with the attempted murder of a police officer last month and the other two in relation to the murder of an officer in 1993.
The PSNI said the female officer was targeted because she is a member of police staff and a part-time police officer.

Two men arrested in connection with the attempted murder of a police officer in Co Derry have been released.
The pair, aged 36 and 44, were detained in the Derry area on Friday, before being taken to the PSNI serious crime suite in Belfast.
They were questioned about the murder bid on a part-time officer in Dungiven, Co Derry, last month.

Two men, aged 36 and 44, who were arrested in Derry last week in connection with a recent bomb attack at the home of a PSNI officer near Dungiven have been released.
The attack at Ballyquin Road took place on April 19.
Police say their enquiries into the attack are continuing. );

Two men, one aged 36, the other aged 44 have been arrested in Derry in connection with the activities of the new IRA.
The PSNI says the men are being questioned in connection with the attempted murder of a female member of police staff, who is also a part time police officer, following the discovery of a viable explosive device beside the young mother’s car in Ballyquin Road, Dungiven on Monday 19th April.
They are also being questioned on suspicion of involvement in three assaults involving firearms that occurred in the Creggan area of Derry in January and February.

Detective Superintendent Richard Campbell, Head of the Terrorism Investigation Unit, said: “Terrorism Investigation Unit detectives today arrested two men under the Terrorism Act in connection with the attempted murder of a female member of police staff, who is also a part time police officer, following the discovery of a viable explosive device beside the young mother’s car in Ballyquin Road, Dungiven on Monday 19th April.
