Dr. Dan Haddad, associate director of bands at Stephen F. Austin State University, will conduct the Wind Symphony in its presentation of “Dusk to Dawn” at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 24, in the Grand Ballroom of the Baker Pattillo Student Center on the SFA campus.<br/>Guest conductors joining Haddad will be Dr. Chris Kaatz, assistant director of bands at SFA; Jeff Bellgardt, graduate student and Mount Enterprise ISD director of bands; and Christina Colley, graduate conductor from Henderson.<br/>Admission to the concert is free. Music representing locations and composers from around the world will be performed by the Symphonic Band and University Band at Stephen F. The Symphonic Band and the Wind Symphony at Stephen F. Austin State University will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, in the Grand Ballroom of the Baker Pattillo Student Center located on the SFA campus.<br/><br/>The Symphonic Band’s portion of the program celebrates Black History Month, according to Dr. Christopher Kaatz, assistant director of bands at SFA and director of the Symphonic Band, and features “A Movement for Rosa,” by Mark Camphouse, among other works. Wind Symphony, conducted by Dr. Dan Haddad, associate director of bands at SFA, will perform “Lasting Light” by Viet Cuong and Gustav Holst’s First Suite in E-flat for Military Band, and other works.<br/><br/>Admission to the concert is free. The Wind Symphony at Stephen F. Austin State University will present the program “The Road to Now” when the student ensemble performs at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 25, in the Grand Ballroom of the Baker Pattillo Student Center on the SFA campus.
Directed by Dr. Dan Haddad, associate director of bands, the Wind Symphony will perform “Illumination” by David Maslanka; Variations on “America” by Charles Ives; and “In Living Color” by Katahj Copley, among other wind band standards.
