Positive thinking about living in Lincoln

Dan Tackett Special to The Courier It’s not always a breeze writing these weekly columns.  Sure, the easy ones pretty much write themselves, but that’s not been the case this morning (Wednesday). With the heat and humidity raging outside in a race to reach the highest peaks, I’ve self-isolated myself in my tiny office. As I sit behind the keyboard, a problem surfaces:  Nothing comes to mind; a nasty and dreaded writer’s block has settled in.  I couldn’t conjure up any activity or event in Lincoln or Logan County to address, at least nothing that would keep readers engaged.

Plans to cut free parking for disabled people to be scrapped

THE COUNCIL S plans to cut free parking for disabled people is set to be scrapped. Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council (BDBC) were proposing a raft of cuts to services as it counts the financial cost of the coronavirus pandemic. Among these were plans to scrap free parking for disabled people in council-run car parks. But a report set to be debated on Tuesday by the authority s cabinet reveals that civic chiefs are proposing to abandon this plan, whilst the senior councillors are set to rubber-stamp plans to increase the borough s share of council tax by an average of £5 (3.96 per cent).
