The affected areas are the coastal waters of Dauis and Tagbilaran City in Bohol; Tambobo Bay in Siaton, Negros Oriental; coastal waters of Calubian in Leyte; Balite Bay in Mati City, Davao Oriental; and Lianga Bay and coastal waters of Hinatuan in Surigao del Sur.
The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) said in its advisory Tuesday, April 20 that shellfishes collected from the affected areas were “still positive for paralytic shellfish poison that is beyond the regulatory limit” as per the latest laboratory results.
All types of shellfish and alamang gathered from the areas are unsafe for human consumption, BFAR noted.
