Chillax travel from Tarlac to Nueva Ecija seen with partial opening of CLLEX

(Photo via DPWH) Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar announced on Monday, Feb. 15, that the 18-kilometer portion of the entire CLLEX Phase 1 from Tarlac City to Nueva Ecija will be opened to public by May 15, 2021. “Witihin the next 90 days, the 18-kilometer section from the connection of SCTEX (Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway) and TPLEX (Tarlac-Pangasinan-La UnionExpressway) in Balingcanaway, Tarlac City up to Aliaga Interchange of the Central Luzon Link Expressway Project Phase 1 will be substantially completed,” Villar said as he took the first drive test within the portion Monday.  The entire CLLEX Phase 1 is seen to reduce travel time between Tarlac City and Cabanatuan City from 70 minutes to just 20 minutes.

(PHOTO VIA DPWH/ MANILA BULLETIN) Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar said the “construction of 4.1-kilometer contract package (CP) 1 – Tarlac Section and 6.4-kilometer CP 2 – Rio Chico River Bridge Section are now 100 percent finished.” The completed sections are part of the 30 kilometer, four-lane expressway project that will connect and improve access between the cities of Tarlac and Cabanatuan in Nueva Ecija. The CP 1, according to Undersecretary Emil Sadain, covers the construction of a 300-meter temporary off and on-ramp to be used as exit in La Paz-Victoria Road while CP 2 includes the construction of 1.5-kilometer Rio Chico River viaduct, 42-meter Sta. Lucia River Bridge, 38-meter La Paz-Victoria underpass bridge.
