SRINAGAR, Dec 23: Former Chief Minister and president of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mehbooba Mufti, today accused Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) of connecting her to terror funding and said that they failed to fight her politically.
Addressing a press conference here this evening, Mehbooba accused the BJP of misusing agencies against her. “They are not fighting politically. Fight me politically not through NIA and other agencies. They have nothing to stick to me regarding corruption, and through Waheed. They have tried to connect me to the terror funding. They are cowards. We have been helping the family of militants through proper bank accounts, this is something that I said in past as well”, she said.

The PAGD was restricted to only 110 seats and failed to cross the halfway mark of 140 during the District Development Council elections, whereas the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the single largest party, winning 75 seats alone.
While dominating the electorate in the Kashmir division, PAGD has only managed to grab three seats in Srinagar, with independent candidates winning seven seats, and BJP winning one seat from Srinagar.
NEW DELHI: While BJP has the lead in Jammu region in the district development council (DDC) polls in J&K, the party’s performance was not the sweep it might have expected, indicating a drift at the grassroots level even as a small breakthrough in the Valley was a reason for satisfaction.
The Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) dominated the Valley but the victory of independents in significant numbers is seen by BJP as an indication of wider participation and emergence of new leaders.
Seven Kashmir-centric mainstream political parties, including National Conference and People’s Democratic Party, contested the polls in an alliance under the PAGD banner. One of the winners in the Valley, Aijaz Hussain, who won from Balhama in Srinagar, is national vice-president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha.
