MARSHALL A pair of recent fires destroyed a barn just outside of Marshall and a garage in Balaton, area fire chiefs said.
Marshall Fire Chief Quentin Brunsvold said the Marshall Fire Department received a fire call around 9:08 p.m. Saturday, from a passerby who saw a glow on what turned out to be the 2300 block of West Channel Road. A barn at the property was on fire and had collapsed by the time firefighters arrived, he said.
The barn was not being used for livestock. Brunsvold said there were cats in the barn, but he did not know if the cats had gotten out. The property owner was not at home at the time of the fire, and the cause of the fire is not known, Brunsvold said.
